Zenith has long released special edition watches for the Japanese market, which remains one of its most important regions. Marking the fourth consecutive year of such releases, Zenith once again presents a timepiece crafted specifically for Japan. Following Japan-exclusive editions of the Defy, Chronomaster Sport, and Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar, the focus this year shifts to the Chronomaster Open collection—a series that has enjoyed immense popularity in Japan since its inception.
Zenith offers a fresh interpretation of the collection's signature open-dial design with the Chronomaster Open Japan Edition. Two versions are available: a stainless steel model limited to 100 pieces, featuring a blue gradient dial and mother-of-pearl chronograph counters; and an 18K rose gold model limited to 30 pieces, featuring a brown dial and mother-of-pearl chronograph counters. Both models are fitted with straps crafted in Okayama Prefecture, Japan—a region renowned for its long-standing denim-making heritage. The steel model comes with an authentic blue denim strap, while the 18K rose gold model features a specially crafted brown denim strap that complements the dial.

Since the launch of the El Primero movement in 1969, the manufacture of high-frequency chronographs has been a core element of the Zenith brand. Both «Chronomaster Open Japan Edition» models feature the collection's signature 39.5mm case and offer water resistance of 10 ATM. At their heart beats the automatic El Primero 3604 movement—a high-frequency column-wheel chronograph caliber capable of measuring and displaying time to 1/10th of a second. An opening in the dial reveals the regulating organ and escapement, including the silicon components and balance wheel. The movement also features a stop-second function for precise time setting. The central chronograph hand completes a full rotation every 10 seconds, displaying elapsed time in 1/10th-second increments. The watch includes a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock, a 60-minute counter at 6 o'clock, and a 60-second counter at 3 o'clock, with a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. Through the sapphire crystal case back, one can admire the intricate construction of the El Primero 3604, including its satin-finished star-shaped oscillating weight.
